Visit to Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco

As part of the ICAI international conference held at this university, I gave a presentation on the topic of city digital twins and took the opportunity to meet some of the institution’s officials.
Amazed by the elegance and architectural coherence of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University campus, I observed that student life there is peaceful.

This non-profit private university, located in Ben Guerir, located not far from Marrakech, has nearly 9,000 students, including 1,000 doctoral candidates. Although established less than 10 years ago, it has quickly risen to the top rank among African universities. More specifically, UM6P’s mission is to:

  • Contribute to the development of knowledge through training focused on research, innovation, and entrepreneurship;
  • Address the major scientific and technological challenges of the African continent;
  • Establish sustainable partnerships with leading national and international institutions.

Its strengths seem to be its excellent relationships with the local economic fabric, which allows both to receive funding from businesses and to facilitate the employment of young graduates. UM6P includes several schools and specialized institutes covering fields such as engineering, architecture, agriculture, governance, medicine, and digital sciences.
