Postdoc position at the Department of Geoinformatics, University of Salzburg, Austria

Tasks: Independent scientific research and teaching, scientific support in research and teaching activities as well as participation in administrative tasks at the Department of Geoinformatics, contribute to the research group Geospatial Sustainability Compliance. We are looking for a person with proven expertise in the field of Geographic Information Science and in-depth knowledge in one of the following areas: Advanced GIS and Spatial Analysis, Spatial Data Science, Earth Observation, Sustainability Science, Environmental Monitoring. Participation in research projects of the department, the development of research proposals and the active participation in funded research projects are expected. Furthermore, active participation in teaching and administrative tasks of the department.

Requirements: PhD in Geoinformatics, GIScience, computer science or related disciplines; experience in working scientifically and a track record of publication activity in scientific journals and conferences; experience in teaching of university courses, project design & management: skills in drafting research proposals and coordinating with academic and non-academic partners, very good written and spoken English skills.

Desired additional qualifications:

– experience in externally funded research projects

– German language skills (or plausibly documented willingness to learn the language),

– Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working

– Strong interest in research activities and working with students

– Ability to work in a team and problem-solving skills

Foreseen start: 01 October 2025, full-time (40 hours/week), Duration: 5 years, salary 69,060 EUR/year gross
